Sally

Welcome to Taartrovers at Home! Firstly, find yourself a comfortable spot to watch and play. Now watch the film Sally, where marbles roll, bump and wander.

Good to know
The film lasts 2 minutes and is suitable for kids aged 3 and up.

Watch the film

Sally, Luna Maurer & Roel Wouters, no dialoque, The Netherlands, 2005

Let’s roll!

First, collect everything you’ll need to create your very own marble run:

– anything that rolls; marbles, table tennis balls, or other small balls
– tubes, a round box, cardboard
– what makes sound? Maybe a drying rack that rattles loudly when a marble runs off it, or an iron pan the balls can fall into with a clamorous bang
– Scotch tape and/or string

Carefully sort and display the materials in a space where there’s enough room to build and play.

Now let’s create our own marble run!

In the film, you saw lots of marbles running in every direction, even upside down. Find anything round and able to roll. Use your imagination to create a long track that runs in every direction. What kind of sounds does your marble run make? Can you add more sounds? Perhaps the balls can end up falling in a big pot? Or you can add a teaspoon for the balls to brush against?
